DNA Test Confirms No Baby Mix-Up at Santa Cruz Maternity Hospital

Santa Cruz, Bolivia – A DNA test has definitively confirmed that there was no baby mix-up at the Percy Boland Maternity Hospital, bringing relief to a family who had expressed concerns. The father of the newborn, whose identity has not been released, spoke to reporters from UNITEL BOLIVIA, confirming the results of the genetic analysis. “We have received all the DNA test results, and indeed, everything is in order regarding the baby,” the father stated, visibly relieved. “The compatibility was 99.9%.” He added that he and his wife are now much calmer, having received the conclusive evidence. The family had initially raised suspicions of a possible baby swap at the maternity ward days prior, prompting an investigation and the subsequent DNA testing. While expressing gratitude for the clarity provided by the test, the father also voiced a plea for improved hospital procedures to prevent similar anxieties for other parents in the future. “When this happens, it obviously generates susceptibility in any parent,” he remarked, highlighting the emotional toll such uncertainties can take.
