La Paz, Bolivia – Mi Teleférico, the world's longest urban cable car network, recently marked over a decade of operations, transforming daily life and tourism in the high-altitude cities of La Paz and El Alto. Launched on May 30, 2014, the system has become an integral part of the urban landscape, connecting millions of residents and visitors. With 10 operational lines, Mi Teleférico has transported more than 627 million passengers, significantly easing urban transit in the geographically challenging terrain of La Paz. An executive from Mi Teleférico, Alejandro González, stated, "At a longitudinal level, we are the longest in the world. Mi Teleférico has united these lives, not only in terms of labor synergy but also as people, as Alteños and Paceños." Local residents express satisfaction with the system's efficiency. One resident remarked, "They are very fast, better than traffic jams." Tourists are equally impressed, often capturing panoramic views of the city from the cabins. Juan Choque, a tourist guide, noted that the cable car has become a primary attraction in La Paz. While largely successful, urban mobility expert Luis Alemán suggested areas for improvement, such as integrating the cable car system with other public transport like PumaKatari buses and minibuses through a single payment card. Despite these ongoing considerations, the people of La Paz have embraced the cable car as a vital mode of transport and a source of pride, continuing to revolutionize urban mobility.
