La Paz, Bolivia – The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) has issued a stern warning regarding threats aimed at obstructing the electoral process, particularly from the 'Evistas' sector. Tahuichi Tahuichi Quispe, a vocal member of the TSE, emphasized today that any attempt to hinder electoral procedures constitutes an electoral crime, punishable by up to five years in prison. Speaking to reporters, Quispe stated, "The Electoral Body does not accept any political pressure, no matter where it comes from." He reiterated the TSE's commitment to its role as a technical and neutral institution, working in strict adherence to the Political Constitution of the State. "Obstructing an electoral process is an electoral crime," Quispe stressed, referencing Article 238, subsection H, of Law 026 of the Electoral Regime. He urged those considering such actions to "think about it two, three times," highlighting the severe legal repercussions, which range from two to five years in prison. This declaration comes amidst growing political tensions and aims to reaffirm the TSE's authority and determination to ensure that upcoming elections are conducted fairly and legally, respecting the democratic framework.
