La Paz, Bolivia – Iván Lima, the campaign manager for the Morena political party, confirmed on UNITEL's POV program that a possibility exists for Eva Copa to withdraw her presidential candidacy. This potential move is contingent on reaching a unity agreement among left-wing political forces in Bolivia. Lima stated that a definitive decision regarding this matter would be announced on July 31st. He underscored Morena's firm position against re-election for any candidate, including former president Evo Morales, emphasizing that the party would not endorse such a candidacy. "We have asked two things of the Bolivian left: first, that the agreement be inclusive of everyone. If the agreement is for everyone, that is a condition," Lima explained. "The second issue, which is our stance and we have advocated for it with conviction, is the issue of re-election. Eva Copa will not seek re-election, and all members of the ticket do not believe in re-election. We will always propose that the Constitution be reformed to prevent re-election." He further added, "Therefore, we would not allow Evo Morales to run for re-election. We would not register him as a candidate in any way." Lima highlighted that if a united front of the left is achieved, incorporating various political actors into unified lists, it would pave the way for a democratic election on August 17th. He warned of significant risks if such an agreement is not reached, particularly concerning voter participation in areas historically strong for the left.
