Bolivian Left-Wing Parties Eye Unified Front for August Elections

La Paz, Bolivia – The political party MORENA has officially confirmed its readiness to participate in a potential meeting with the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS), led by President Luis Arce. This initiative aims to consolidate a unified popular left-wing bloc in anticipation of the upcoming elections scheduled for August 17. Ernesto Machicado, the National Head of MORENA, stated that his party is prepared to attend any meeting convened by the MAS-IPSP. He emphasized the importance of forming a cohesive front to effectively challenge right-wing factions in the forthcoming electoral contest. Machicado highlighted that achieving this unity might necessitate concessions from various parties, including the potential withdrawal of individual candidacies. "Someone has to yield," Machicado remarked, underscoring the strategic importance of a single left-wing candidacy.
