Bolivian Identity Vote to Counter Economic Crisis Impact on MAS in 2025 Elections
Santa Cruz, Bolivia – Political analyst Guido Añez stated that the "identity vote" of the Movement for Socialism (MAS) party is expected to counteract the effects of the current economic crisis in the upcoming 2025 elections. Speaking on the "La Hora Pico" program by eju.tv, Añez highlighted that while the economic crisis is likely to affect the middle-class vote, particularly in urban areas, the strong sense of identity among MAS supporters, especially in the Bolivian Altiplano and among the Aymara people, will remain a dominant factor. Añez emphasized that this demographic often votes based on identity rather than economic conditions. He noted that opposition candidates have struggled to penetrate this specific voter base, which remains deeply connected to the MAS party. According to Añez, this strong identity bond could mitigate the impact of economic challenges on the party's overall electoral performance.
