La Paz, Bolivia – As Bolivia gears up for its national elections on August 17, UNITEL.bo has released key information and rules for voters. Over seven million Bolivians are expected to cast their ballots to elect new authorities, with eight political parties vying for positions. According to the electoral guidelines, only a physical and valid identification card will be accepted for voting. In exceptional cases, an ID card expired by up to one year may be used. Digital IDs, passports, or driving licenses will not be accepted. Travel restrictions will be in place, with no national flights or bus services available on election day. Bus terminals are scheduled to close at 6:00 PM on the preceding Saturday. Strict prohibitions will be enforced, including the consumption of alcohol, public events, electoral propaganda, carrying weapons, and the transportation of voters. Vehicle circulation will also be restricted, with exceptions made only for ambulances, press, and authorized transport. In a measure to ensure transparency, any person will be permitted to photograph the electoral act before it is officially stored. Electoral juries are mandated to display the act for a minimum of five minutes. Furthermore, Bolivians residing abroad will also participate in the democratic process, with over 369,000 citizens registered to vote in 22 countries. UNITEL.bo announced it will provide comprehensive live coverage of the elections starting from 6:00 AM, detailing every aspect of the day, including the rapid count results expected in the evening.
