A recent video featuring nutritionist Vasyl Lukianov highlights four categories of products that, according to him, should be avoided due to their potential health risks. Mr. Lukianov, who describes himself as 'the kindest dietitian/nutritionist from a village,' detailed his concerns in a short-form video that has garnered significant attention. First on his list are processed meats, including sausages, hot dogs, and bacon. Lukianov states these products contain nitrites (E250), which can form carcinogenic nitrosamines in the body. He references a 2015 WHO/IARC classification, which designates processed meat as a Group 1 carcinogen, increasing the risk of colorectal cancer. Secondly, the nutritionist advises against products containing trans fats, such as margarine, wafers, rusks, and cookies. He explains that trans fats negatively impact the lipid profile, increasing the risk of stroke, heart attack, and inflammation, citing the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as a source. Sugary carbonated drinks and packaged juices are the third category to avoid. Lukianov points out that a single can of soda can contain 7-10 teaspoons of sugar, leading to excessive pancreatic load, obesity, diabetes, and fatty liver disease. He supports this claim with a reference to a 2015 BMJ study on sugar-sweetened beverages and health. Finally, alcohol, even in small amounts, is listed as detrimental. Lukianov asserts that alcohol is a hepatotoxin, disrupts liver function, and affects brain neurotransmitter balance. He refers to a 2018 Lancet study, 'No safe level of alcohol,' to underscore his point. The video aims to inform viewers about potentially harmful dietary choices, encouraging a healthier lifestyle.
