Homemade "Duchesse" Apple Jam: A Simple Recipe for Aromatic Winter Preserves Kyiv, Ukraine – As the harvest season approaches, home cooks are turning to traditional recipes for preserving fruits. A popular online content creator, Viktoria Kozina (@viktoria_food0), recently shared a highly-praised recipe for "Duchesse" apple jam, known for its rich aroma and thick consistency, making it ideal for pastries. The recipe, which has garnered significant attention online, calls for 3 kilograms of peeled apples, 1 kilogram of sugar, and 300 grams of "Duchesse" candies. According to Kozina's instructions, the apples and sugar are first combined and left overnight to macerate. The following morning, the "Duchesse" candies are added, and the mixture is brought to a boil, then simmered for precisely one hour, with continuous stirring to prevent sticking. For those who prefer an alternative flavor, barberry candies can be substituted for "Duchesse." Jars for the jam are sterilized in an oven at 100 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes. Once cooked, the hot jam is carefully transferred into the sterilized jars and sealed. This simple yet effective method promises a delicious and versatile preserve that can be enjoyed throughout the colder months. Online comments reflect the recipe's popularity, with many users sharing their positive experiences and variations. One user noted, "I've been making this for 2 years, it's delicious!" another added, "Last year I made it with barberry, it's such a delight, highly recommend it." The high engagement underscores the timeless appeal of homemade preserves.
