Dublin Airport Prepares for Record-Breaking Summer Passenger Numbers
Dublin Airport braces for record-breaking summer. Dublin Airport is expecting a surge in passengers this summer, potentially exceeding 36 million due to a court-ordered pause on the annual passenger cap. This surpasses the previous cap of 32 million set in 2007. The airport's Managing Director, Gary Mclean, stated, "It's going to be a record-breaking summer...we're already seeing our busiest days when it comes to aircraft movements." However, CEO Kenny Jacobs voiced concerns, stating, "What I do worry about is just we still need faster planning." The DAA aims for 90% of passengers to clear security in under 20 minutes during peak travel months and urges passengers to arrive two hours before short-haul and three hours before long-haul flights. The airport is preparing for the influx of passengers but emphasizes the need for improved infrastructure and planning to maintain service standards.
