MINSK, Belarus – A popular online personality, known as Yulia_osa, recently shared a time-tested family recipe for making delicious lightly salted cucumbers, drawing significant attention from home cooks. The recipe, which Yulia states has been passed down through her grandmother and mother, promises perfectly crisp and flavorful cucumbers without the need for boiling water. The process begins with preparing a 3-liter jar, layering it with fresh horseradish leaves, dill umbrellas, and a mix of currant, raspberry, and cherry leaves for enhanced aroma. Garlic cloves, bay leaves, and peppercorns are also added for depth of flavor. Washed cucumbers are then tightly packed into the jar. Following this, three tablespoons of salt are added, and the jar is filled with cold tap water. A crucial step highlighted by Yulia is to seal the jar and vigorously shake it, ensuring the salt dissolves and is evenly distributed throughout. The sealed jar is then left at room temperature for three days, with periodic shaking to aid the pickling process. After this period, the lightly salted cucumbers are ready to be enjoyed and can be stored in the refrigerator for continued freshness. The simplicity and traditional nature of the recipe have resonated with many viewers, making it a popular choice for homemade preserves.
