Minsk Woman Faces Eviction and Financial Setback After Unexpected Job Loss
MINSK – A local resident, Liza, has shared her personal experience of unexpected job loss, highlighting the challenges faced by individuals in the current economic climate. Liza, who worked as a laboratory head since November 2024, stated that she and an engineer were recently laid off after the company founder decided to discontinue the project. “I was fired. I am no longer the head of the laboratory,” Liza said in a video post, expressing the emotional toll of the situation. “I held on, but it was difficult.” Her dismissal has immediate implications for her living arrangements, as she resides in a 6-square-meter bed-space in a dormitory. She revealed that she was informed she would be evicted within three days if she lost her job. Additionally, her monthly savings of 1,400 BYN towards a 50,000 BYN housing fund are now at risk. Despite the significant setback, Liza remains resolute. “Yes, I was fired. But a dream cannot be fired,” she asserted. She plans to continue her instant tanning business, noting that she still has clients. “I’m not giving up.
