Malaysia Tightens Border Control: Full VEP Enforcement Begins July 1st
Malaysia to Fully Enforce Vehicle Entry Permit at Singapore Border Starting July 1, 2025 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Malaysian Ministry of Transport (MOT) announced that the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) system will be fully enforced at the Malaysia-Singapore land border starting July 1, 2025. This follows a phased implementation that began last October. Transport Minister Anthony Loke explained the decision in a press conference, stating, "Owners of private vehicles without a valid VEP will be fined 300 ringgit." He further clarified that this full enforcement date was chosen after a period of public awareness and registration. The phased rollout allowed the MOT to address any challenges and ensure a smooth transition. This move is expected to improve border management and traffic flow. The MOT is committed to ensuring a fair and efficient system for all drivers.
