Malaysia to Fully Enforce Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) Starting July 1st PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA – Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced today that the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) system will be fully enforced at all Malaysian border crossings starting July 1st, 2025. This means that all foreign-registered vehicles entering Malaysia must have a valid VEP. "This is a crucial step to improve border security and manage traffic flow," said Loke during a press conference. The ministry shared data showing that as of June 2nd, 2025, 194,507 RFID tags had been installed on individual vehicles and 2,660 on company vehicles. Those without a VEP will face fines. This move is expected to impact thousands of drivers. The full implementation of the VEP is intended to enhance security and streamline border processes.
