Belarus and Vietnam Strengthen Ties: Joint Statement on Strategic Partnership MINSK, BELARUS – In a significant development for bilateral relations, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and the head of the Vietnamese delegation met on May 12, 2025, to discuss and sign a joint statement on the restoration of strategic partnership between the two nations. The meeting, held in Minsk, focused on key areas of cooperation, including industrial collaboration and agricultural trade. President Lukashenko emphasized the importance of machine building, particularly the supply of Belarusian tractors, to Vietnam. He stated, "Vietnam is one of Belarus's key partners in Southeast Asia, and the basis of our cooperation is sincere friendship, mutual respect, and support." The agreement also includes plans to increase the supply of Belarusian agricultural products to meet the growing demands of the Vietnamese market. Beyond trade, the two sides agreed to revitalize their scientific and technological collaboration. A future meeting of the Belarusian-Vietnamese commission on scientific and technological cooperation is planned for 2025. The head of the Vietnamese delegation also highlighted the importance of technological security and sovereignty. This renewed partnership signifies a strengthening of economic and political ties between Belarus and Vietnam, promising increased trade and collaboration in various sectors.
