Belgrade, Serbia - Serbia has announced a series of significant initiatives aimed at strengthening its ties with the European Union and the United Kingdom, focusing on easing travel and communication for its citizens. Premier Đuro Macut confirmed that Serbia has launched an initiative at the Berlin Congress summit in London to integrate into the EU's free roaming zone. This move is expected to equalize telecommunication prices across Europe, significantly benefiting Serbian travelers. In addition to the roaming initiative, Serbia has proposed a change to the Schengen period calculation for transporters. The new proposal suggests that the duration of stay be based on actual driving time rather than full calendar days, a measure designed to reduce congestion at border crossings and streamline logistics. Furthermore, an initiative for visa regime liberalization with Great Britain has been well-received. This particular proposal targets academics, students, and highly educated individuals, aiming to facilitate their access to the UK. Official figures indicate a drastic reduction in migration from Serbia to Great Britain, and Serbia is actively collaborating with international organizations on this topic. These efforts underscore Serbia's commitment to fostering closer relationships and improving mobility with key European partners.
