Challenging the Impossible: One Man's 7.5km Run Through Venice's Streets
Venice, Italy – Horacio Picón, a tech journalist and content creator, recently undertook an ambitious challenge: to run 8 kilometers through the labyrinthine streets of Venice. Picón embarked on his unique journey early on June 22, 2025, at 6:50 AM, aiming to navigate the city's renowned canals and historic pathways before the influx of daily tourists. Equipped with a Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro, which he used to download and follow a pre-planned route, Picón documented his experience. He noted that while Venice is famous for its 150 canals, it also boasts numerous streets and an astonishing 436 bridges, which proved to be a significant challenge for maintaining a steady running pace. "The big problem was the tourists," Picón stated, explaining his early start. The narrowness of many streets also forced him to slow down frequently when encountering other pedestrians. Despite the obstacles, Picón successfully completed 7.53 kilometers of his intended 8-kilometer run in 49 minutes and 49 seconds, burning 638 calories. His endeavor demonstrates that running is indeed possible in a city often perceived as unsuitable for such activity, offering a fresh perspective on exploring Venice beyond its typical tourist attractions.
