Galicia Steps Up Motorcycle Safety Checks for Weekend
Galicia Launches Weekend Motorcycle Safety Campaign Galicia, Spain is implementing a special weekend-long campaign focused on motorcycle safety. The initiative, announced by the Directorate-General of Traffic (DGT), aims to curb dangerous driving behaviors among motorcyclists. Authorities will be focusing on several key areas, including alcohol and drug use, illegal overtaking maneuvers, and speeding. David Llorente, the provincial head of Traffic, explained the rationale behind the campaign. "We believe it's appropriate now, with the good weather and the increase in motorcycles on the road, to conduct a targeted campaign." The increased police presence will be particularly noticeable on major roads throughout the region. Javier Barja, head of the Traffic Civil Guard in Ourense, highlighted the specific aspects of the campaign. "We will be paying special attention to alcohol and drug use, illegal overtaking, and speeding, especially on roads frequently used by motorcyclists." The campaign aims to ensure a safe weekend for all road users. The campaign underscores the importance of road safety and responsible driving, particularly during periods of increased traffic and favorable weather conditions. The DGT hopes this initiative will contribute to a reduction in motorcycle accidents and promote safer riding practices.
