Unauthorized Speed Bump Causes Stir in Hîncești: Mayor Unaware of Installation

HÎNCEȘTI, Moldova – A recently installed, unauthorized speed bump on Aleea de Nuci has drawn attention after a video showing a car severely jolting over it went viral. The artificial denivelation, painted with red and white stripes, is located at the entrance to what is also known as Love Alley. The video, filmed by visitors from Chișinău, depicts a silver Toyota hatchback encountering the obstruction, with the vehicle visibly struggling to pass over the unusually large bump. Upon inquiry by Hîncești24, Mayor Alexandru Botnari stated he had no prior knowledge of the speed bump's installation. "I was not informed about such a thing, and it is an act of self-will," Mayor Botnari commented, adding that the police are responsible for approving such installations. Local residents have expressed mixed reactions, with some citing concerns over vehicle damage and others supporting measures to slow down traffic in the area. Authorities are expected to investigate the legality and safety of the speed bump.
