Madrid, Spain – A recent video by labor lawyer Juanma Lorente highlights three crucial paid leave entitlements for employees in Spain that are often overlooked. According to Lorente, Spanish workers are entitled to a minimum of one paid day off for moving house, with some collective agreements potentially extending this period. Furthermore, employees working on election day have the right to paid time off, up to four hours, to cast their vote if their work schedule conflicts with polling hours. Lastly, in cases of severe meteorological emergencies, such as heavy snowfall or torrential rain that make commuting unsafe, workers may be granted up to four prorogable paid days off. This provision aims to protect employees when public authorities advise against travel. These rights are enshrined in the Workers' Statute, ensuring employees can exercise their civic duties and ensure their safety without financial penalty.
