Las altas temperaturas, el agua salada y la exposición prolongada al sol, acarrean más de una urgencia veterinaria
As summer approaches and beach outings become popular, a veterinarian has shared crucial advice for dog owners to ensure their furry companions stay safe and healthy by the sea. Dr. María VetiCan highlights five key precautions that can prevent common issues like dehydration and skin irritation. According to Dr. VetiCan, one of the most important steps is to always carry plenty of fresh water for your dog. 'The heat and drinking saltwater can dehydrate them very quickly,' she explains. She notes that if a dog consumes saltwater, it's common for them to experience vomiting and diarrhea, but rehydration is key. If symptoms persist, veterinary attention is advised. Other vital tips include protecting your dog's paw pads from the hot sand, using pet-safe sunscreen on sensitive areas, closely monitoring them while they are in the water, and thoroughly rinsing off all salt and sand after leaving the beach to prevent skin and ear problems. These simple measures can help ensure a fun and safe experience for dogs and their owners alike.
