Patient Shares Experience with Amniotic Membrane Treatment for Severe Dry Eye

A patient, Melanie Brynn, recently underwent a Prokera amniotic membrane treatment for her eye, a procedure aimed at healing corneal damage and reducing friction caused by chronic dry eye. Brynn shared her experience, explaining that the amniotic membrane provides a 'boost' and 'TLC' to her eye, helping to heal micro-abrasions. She noted that while previous attempts at this treatment were too painful due to the discomfort of the membrane's ring under the eyelid, she can now tolerate it thanks to a weighted eye patch. This patch holds the eyelid in place, allowing her to keep the eye lubricated with drops. Brynn anticipates a few days of rest before undergoing the same treatment on her other eye.
