BUKOVEL, Ukraine – Amidst ongoing mobilization efforts, travel to popular destinations like Bukovel in Ukraine has become increasingly restricted, with checkpoints becoming a common sight. A recent video shared by a man traveling from Kyiv to Bukovel highlights the challenges faced by individuals without proper military documentation. According to the traveler, who journeyed through Zhytomyr, Rivne, Dubno, Ternopil, and Ivano-Frankivsk, several checkpoints were encountered along the route. At these stops, police officers, often accompanied by representatives from Territorial Recruitment Centers (TCC), were reportedly stopping vehicles and requesting military documents, specifically looking for deferrals or reservations. “Only people who have a deferral or reservation can reach here,” the man stated in his video, filmed from a chairlift overlooking Bukovel. He emphasized that those without such documents risk being stopped and potentially unable to continue their journey. He also noted that while police have the authority to stop vehicles, TCC employees should only be present with a valid basis for interaction. The video serves as a cautionary tale for those planning domestic travel within Ukraine, underscoring the importance of carrying all necessary military documentation to avoid potential complications at checkpoints.
