Kyiv, Ukraine – A recent surge in military enlistment offices (TCC) placing internally displaced persons (IDPs) on wanted lists for failing to register at their new residences has prompted legal clarification. According to Anastasia Romas, an attorney from Dnipro, this situation is affecting IDPs across Ukraine. The issue arises when individuals who obtained IDP status and moved from their original homes do not register their new place of residence with the local military enlistment office within seven days, as required by law. Upon returning home without canceling their IDP status, they may find themselves on a wanted list for violating registration rules. Ms. Romas advises two primary solutions for those affected: either register at the military enlistment office in the location where their IDP status was obtained, or, if they have permanently returned to their previous place of residence, officially cancel their IDP status and resolve any outstanding issues with the local TCC there. She emphasizes the importance of addressing these violations promptly to avoid further legal complications.
