Templemore Garda College Celebrates Graduation of 120 New Officers Templemore, Ireland – June 6, 2025 – The Garda College in Templemore recently witnessed the graduation of 120 new members of An Garda Síochána. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the Irish police force, welcoming 89 men and 31 women to its ranks. Notably, 22 of the graduates were born outside of Ireland, reflecting the increasingly diverse nature of the force. RTÉ News spoke with several of the new gardaí, gaining insights into their motivations. Garda Eugenio Spedicato, whose family has a military background in Italy, stated, "I was in the army in Italy and always wanted to help people." His sentiment echoed that of others, emphasizing a common desire to serve the community. Garda Sharon Walsh shared a deeply personal reason for joining, stating, "My brother passed away, and seeing how the guards dealt with us as a family made me want to be part of that community."
