GUATEMALA CITY – A dashcam video circulating online appears to show an attempted street robbery thwarted by a quick-thinking citizen. The incident, which occurred on a street near the Atanasio Tzul and Petapa areas, depicts two individuals on a motorcycle approaching pedestrians. The footage shows one of the motorcyclists dismounting and seemingly attempting to rob a person on the sidewalk. However, a man from a nearby vehicle is seen rapidly exiting his car, prompting the suspects to immediately abandon their attempt and flee on the motorcycle. The video has drawn attention to ongoing concerns about street crime in the area. Authorities have not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
