Lima, Peru – The Peruvian Government, through the Peruvian Sports Institute, has officially announced the commencement of a comprehensive remodeling plan for the iconic Estadio Nacional in Lima. This ambitious project aims to modernize the stadium and enhance the spectator experience. Among the key interventions, the stadium's capacity is set to increase from its current 45,000 to an expanded 50,000 spectators. A significant change will be the elimination of the existing athletic track, a move designed to bring the stands closer to the field of play, thereby creating a more compact and vibrant atmosphere for football matches. Further upgrades include the installation of a state-of-the-art hybrid grass system, which combines natural and artificial fibers for improved durability and playability. The infrastructure for services, access points, and technology will also undergo substantial improvements. These enhancements are intended to ensure the Estadio Nacional meets the highest international standards required for hosting major tournaments and sporting events. Officials state that with these improvements, the stadium will be ready to welcome first-level competitions and provide a significantly improved experience for the public.
