Violent Robbery in Santa Cruz: Woman Kicked in Face During Motorcycle Assault

SANTA CRUZ – Two women were violently assaulted and robbed by two individuals on a motorcycle in the Barrio El Fuerte neighborhood this past weekend. The incident, captured by security cameras, shows the assailants intercepting the victims as they were leaving a church. One of the attackers, with his face covered, dismounted the motorcycle and pointed a firearm at the women. When one of the victims attempted to flee, she was brutally kicked in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. “They told us to hand over our belongings, our cell phones,” stated one of the victims, who wished to remain anonymous. “I had to throw my phone to stop them from hitting me.” She added that her sister managed to escape and seek help, but the assailants had already fled the scene. The victims have formally filed a complaint with the police. They expressed concern about the increasing insecurity in the area, noting that they are not the only ones who have suffered similar attacks. “We ask the police to catch them because we are not the only victims. It could happen to younger children,” she urged, highlighting the lack of police patrols in the neighborhood at the time of the incident. According to initial police reports, these individuals are believed to be involved in a series of similar robberies in the area, including attacks on a woman leaving a gym and a man circulating with his child.
