La Paz, Bolivia – The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) conducted the drawing of electoral jurors this Friday, selecting over 200,000 citizens who will administer the voting process in the presidential elections scheduled for August 17. This crucial step ensures the transparent and organized execution of the upcoming national polls. Citizens who were selected as electoral jurors but are unable to fulfill their duty have a seven-day window to present their justifications. This period commences on Monday, July 21, and excuses must be submitted to the respective Departmental Electoral Tribunal. Valid reasons for exemption include documented illness, pregnancy, having suffered an accident, or possessing a verifiable pre-scheduled travel plan. Additionally, individuals who are political candidates, political leaders, or work in indispensable public services such as healthcare or journalism are also eligible for exemption. Failure to present a valid excuse or to attend to one's duties as an electoral juror will result in a fine of up to 1,000 Bolivianos. The TSE emphasizes the importance of civic responsibility and adherence to electoral regulations. To ascertain whether they have been selected as an electoral juror, citizens will be able to access this information starting this Sunday through the official platforms of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal and various media publications.
