La Paz, Bolivia – Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) has addressed recent public concerns regarding the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (GLP), firmly denying any national shortage. Marcos Durán, Director of Commercialization for YPFB, stated that the current situation is primarily due to speculation rather than an actual deficit in supply. "We have a normal supply of GLP," Durán affirmed during an interview, acknowledging public reports of difficulties. "This situation brings about speculation." In response to these speculative activities, YPFB announced a coordinated effort with governmental bodies to implement stringent controls. "YPFB, with the National Hydrocarbons Agency, the Ministry of Government, and the Ministry of Defense, are activating respective controls," Durán explained. The objective of these measures is to "effectively prevent acts of hoarding and speculation," ensuring that GLP reaches consumers without artificial disruptions. The announcement comes amidst visual evidence of citizens seeking gas cylinders and reports of distribution trucks not reaching all neighborhoods. YPFB is prioritizing distribution for public health and essential services to mitigate any impact on the population.
