Drones Take to the Skies: Volkovysk Police Enhance Road Safety with New Technology
Volkovysk, Belarus – In a novel approach to improving road safety, local traffic police are collaborating with the military to utilize drone technology in traffic enforcement. The initiative, involving personnel from the Volkovysk District Road Patrol Service (GAI) and the 7404 military unit, uses a drone to monitor traffic flow for violations. "With the help of the quadcopter, we monitor compliance with traffic rules," explained Senior Inspector Dylevsky of the Volkovysk GAI. "A team monitors the road using the drone and transmits information about violations to a second patrol crew who then stops the offender for protocol compilation." This two-pronged approach allows for efficient identification and apprehension of traffic rule violators. The use of drones ensures a wider coverage area and potentially reduces response times. The collaboration between the GAI and the military unit showcases a positive example of inter-agency cooperation to enhance public safety and improve traffic conditions in the region. The success of this initiative could lead to its adoption in other areas of Belarus.
