Minsk, Belarus – University students in Belarus on paid programs have the opportunity to significantly reduce their tuition fees by up to 60% starting from their second year of study. This was explained in a recent online video by an education expert, addressing a common question from prospective students. According to the expert, there are three primary conditions for obtaining these tuition discounts. Firstly, students must demonstrate high academic performance. This typically means achieving at least 50% of their grades as nines and tens, with no grades falling below six. "From the first day of university, if you've enrolled in a paid program and want to financially support your parents by getting this discount, strive to study well," the expert advised. Secondly, involvement in scientific activities is crucial. This can include having published academic works or participating in conferences, which may vary in requirements between universities. Students are encouraged to inquire about specific expectations at their respective institutions. Finally, active participation in university life is a key factor. This encompasses involvement in student organizations, student unions, or even being active in dormitory life. The expert noted that there are numerous avenues for student engagement, from organizing events to administrative roles. "As soon as you enroll, ask questions, find out what interests you – whether it's being on stage or administrative work," she suggested. Students are advised to actively pursue these criteria throughout their first year, collect all supporting documents, and then apply for the discount for their second year. The level of discount awarded directly correlates with the student's academic average, with higher grades leading to larger reductions.
