Wild Horse's Highway Escape Delays Kazakhstan Trip
On Monday, June 4th, 2025, an unexpected incident occurred on a Czech highway near Cerny Most. Employees of Prague Zoo were transporting four Przewalski's horses to a military airfield for onward transport to Arkalyk, Kazakhstan. One stallion, named Viski, managed to break free from its enclosure and ran onto the highway. Traffic was briefly halted as zoo staff and police worked to safely recapture the animal. "It was quite a surprise," said a zoo spokesperson, "but thankfully, Viski was quickly apprehended and no one was injured." The remaining three horses safely reached the airfield and continued their journey to Kazakhstan. The incident highlights the challenges of transporting wild animals, but also the quick response and successful resolution by the authorities. This event is noteworthy because Przewalski's horses are endangered, and their relocation is part of a long-term conservation program.
