Zagreb Prepares for Thompson Concert: Extensive Medical and Security Plans Underway
Zagreb, Croatia – With just two weeks remaining until Marko Perković Thompson's highly anticipated concert at the Hipodrom, authorities are implementing comprehensive health and safety measures to ensure public well-being. Hospitals across Zagreb have established dedicated command centers, actively preparing for potential medical needs by securing additional beds and bolstering emergency services.According to the Ministry of Health, nearly 200 emergency medical service personnel will be deployed, utilizing 16 vehicles within the Hipodrom grounds and an additional 10 vehicles outside. Furthermore, 27 fixed medical locations will be set up within the Hipodrom area, with a large stationary unit featuring 200 beds and necessary medical equipment planned for the Velesajam exhibition grounds. This unit will be staffed by doctors and nurses from the hospital system, ensuring immediate care for urgent cases. Patients requiring critical transport to hospitals will be airlifted by a helicopter stationed near the Hipodrom.Despite these extensive preparations, concerns have been raised by the SDP regarding the potential strain on existing health and security systems. They argue that the concert represents an immense pressure on already burdened medical personnel. Meanwhile, construction of the mega-stage at the Hipodrom is progressing daily. The concert's manager, Zdravko Barišić, confirmed that while the official permit has not yet arrived, it is expected within days. A traffic plan is also awaiting final approval. Further details regarding public safety and logistics are anticipated to be released next week by Thompson's team.
