La Paz, Bolivia – Private schools in Bolivia have voiced their concerns regarding the recent decision to extend winter holidays, citing potential academic setbacks for students. A representative from the private schools' association, interviewed by Red Uno, stated that the announcement came as a surprise, as they initially expected classes to resume on July 21st. "For us, it was a surprise because initially, we were given to understand that we would start on the 21st, taking precautions like changing to distance learning," the representative explained. However, the situation changed, and the start date was pushed to July 28th. Despite the academic implications, the association emphasizes its support for the health measures implemented by the Ministry of Education. "The health situation, in my personal opinion, if we had adopted the distance learning modality from today, we would not have been harmed, because we are still at home," he added, suggesting that remote learning could have mitigated the academic impact. The association has submitted a request to the Ministry to allow private schools to offer support or complementary classes during this extended holiday week. This initiative aims to minimize the academic delay before the official resumption of classes on July 28th, ensuring students can continue their learning process without significant disruption.
